Supplier & Partner Standards

Our worldwide activity rests on long-standing working relationships with independent specialist companies in the ports, markets and processing industries where distressed cargo cases arise.

Who we work with

Depending on the cargo and the location, a case may involve several of the following independent parties:

  • Buyers and end users in the relevant market
  • Processors and reconditioning facilities
  • Logistics, transport, terminal and warehousing providers
  • Marine and cargo surveyors
  • Analytical laboratories
  • Recycling companies
  • Disposal and destruction contractors
  • Other specialist service providers, including local agents and customs representatives

Independent companies, not our offices

These parties are independent businesses. They are not automatically offices, branches, agents, employees or subsidiaries of Pommer & Partners International Trading Limited, and references on this website to worldwide activity describe the markets and ports in which we transact — not a network of company-owned locations. Each party acts under its own name, with its own permissions and its own responsibility.

What we expect

  • Compliance with the laws and regulations applicable to their activity and location
  • The permits, licences and authorisations their own operations require
  • Lawful conduct consistent with our Anti-Bribery & Corruption principle
  • Handling, processing, recycling or disposal carried out to a professional standard
  • Accurate reporting of findings, quantities, conditions and outcomes
  • Respect for the confidentiality of case information
  • Observance of any use, market or destination restrictions attached to cargo

Selection and continuity

Partners are generally selected on the basis of demonstrated capability for the cargo type and location concerned, rather than price alone. Many relationships have been maintained across repeated cases, which is what allows a route to be assembled quickly when a cargo is under time pressure.

When expectations are not met

Where a partner's conduct is inconsistent with these expectations, we address it directly and may suspend or end the relationship. We do not continue a commercial arrangement because it is convenient for a case in progress.

Status of this statement

These are commercial expectations rather than a certification scheme, an audit programme or a warranty regarding the conduct of independent third parties.
