Remarketing & salvage sales

International Cargo Remarketing
& Salvage Sales

Where direct purchase is not the right route, Pommer & Partners organises and manages the sale — placing cargo with buyers, processors and end users who can work with its documented condition.

Definition

Salvage sale

A salvage sale is the structured sale of cargo affected by damage, rejection, contamination or a marine incident, normally conducted on an as-is basis against documented condition rather than the original contract specification.

Remarketing is the wider commercial exercise around it: identifying which market, grade, application or jurisdiction can still absorb the cargo, and reaching the buyers who operate there.

Pommer & Partners is not restricted to one role. Where a managed sale produces the better outcome we run the sale; where certainty and speed matter more, we can purchase the cargo ourselves as principal.

Where cargo can be placed

Alternative markets, not a single address book.

01

Commodity traders

Buyers who work in graded and downgraded qualities and can absorb documented deviations in bulk quantities.

02

Processors & refiners

Operations able to clean, dry, sort, blend, crush, refine or reprocess cargo into a saleable specification.

03

Feed and technical industries

Users for whom a food-grade deviation may be irrelevant, subject to laboratory results and applicable feed regulation.

04

Industrial end users

Manufacturers who can use off-specification polymers, chemicals, minerals or metals in a different application.

05

Discount & clearance channels

Outlets for packaged goods with damaged presentation, short shelf life or labelling problems, where brand rules permit.

06

Recyclers & recovery operators

Where material rather than product value remains, and the objective becomes recovery instead of resale.

How a sale is structured

A sale that stands up to review.

  • As-is / where-is basis with documented condition
  • Buyer vetting, including sanctions and compliance screening
  • Inspection opportunity where cargo access allows

Trust & compliance

Commercial, but always within the rules.

Transactions and services are subject to verification and applicable regulation, including:

  • Ownership and title verification
  • Applicable customs requirements
  • Sanctions and compliance checks
  • Environmental and waste regulations
  • Local laws
  • Cargo-specific regulatory requirements

Purchases and sales require evidence of ownership and authority to sell, or the written authority of the insurer or party entitled to dispose of the cargo. Recovery, recycling and disposal routes depend on waste classification and on applicable environmental, transport and customs rules in the countries involved.
